Harry Gray Jr.

May 18, 1924 — August 6, 2009


At age 85, Harry went to be with his Lord, August 6, 2009 in Waco, Texas. He was born in Amarillo, Texas and lived there until he joined the Navy in 1941. Harry was a Chief Pharmacist's mate during WWII, served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged from the service in 1947.

He married Norma I. Carpenter of Des Moines, Iowa on February 8, 1946 in Mare Island, California where they both were stationed. They returned to Amarillo, Texas, for 5 years until moving to Clovis, New Mexico, in 1952, where they owned and operated Clovis Oil Company for 30 years.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 63 years, Norma Gray; one daughter and husband - Cindy and Charles Wall of Waco, Texas; two sons - Robert Gray and wife, Rhonda of Clovis, New Mexico and David Gray and wife, Katreisa of Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren - Ann and Ryan Trammell, Jason Wall, Aaron Gray, Sara Guastaferro, Courtney Carter; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Services will be at First United Methodist Church in Clovis, New Mexico, Monday, August 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Harry Riser will officiate. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
