Hazel Shoemaker

Hazel M. Shoemaker, age 91, of Clovis, New Mexico passed away on September 10, 2012 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, New Mexico.

Hazel was born on September 4, 1921 in Traskwood, Arkansas to W. A. and Ethel Newman Burge. Hazel married Wesley Shoemaker on November 26, 1938 in Clovis, New Mexico. They moved to the Ima community in 1940 where Hazel and her husband ranched. Hazel was a longtime member of Ima Community Church. In November of 2005 she moved to Clovis. She was a member of Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis. She loved to quilt and was a great cook and baker.

Hazel is survived by one daughter: Lois David McIntosh of Los Lunas, New Mexico two sons: Sonny Diane Shoemaker of White Oaks, New Mexico and Eddy Jan Shoemaker of Ima, New Mexico three sisters: Freddie Patterson of Farwell, Texas, Jewell Carter of Snyder, Oklahoma and Alma Mae Smith of Roswell, New Mexico twelve grandchildren thirtyone great grandchildren and twentytwo great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Wesley, who passed away on November 9, 2000 one son: James Carroll Shoemaker one granddaughter: DeJuana Beeman and ten brothers and sisters.

Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012 at SteedTodd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis, New Mexico. The family will have a meal at approximately 12:00 p.m. at the House Community Center in House, New Mexico. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hassell Cemetery in Hassell, New Mexico. Sherman Martin will officiate and Brian Tabor will assist at both services. Casket bearers are Sonny Shoemaker, Eddy Shoemaker, David McIntosh, Billy C. Shoemaker, Stoney Shoemaker, Bryn Butler, Forrest McIntosh, Geoff McIntosh, Barry Dixon and Terrell Stowe. Honorary casket bearers are all of Hazels grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
