Helen Gonser

Helen Denmon Nonnie Gonser, age 85, of Clovis, NM, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at her home in Clovis. She was born on April 7, 1926, in Wellington, TX, to Jim Raymond and Susie Eunice Dodd Shumate.

Helen moved with her family to Melrose, NM, in 1932 and lived in that community until she moved to Clovis in 1993. She graduated from Melrose High School in 1944 and married Jason Ivan Spec Gonser that same year. Helen was a member of First Baptist Church in Melrose and later Central Baptist Church in Clovis.

She is survived by daughters, Joanna Faye Bostwick Wendell of Melrose, and Dianna Kaye Newman Johnny of Burleson, TX daughterinlaw, Eileen Massey Dicky of Portales, NM nine grandchildren, Rex, Chad, Monte, Carlos, Karri, Konni, Brendi, Camille, Justin and Gina 21 greatgrandchildren sugar babies brother, J.R. Shumate three sisters, Bettie Jane Hall, Carol Pierce, and Shirlee Williams and two special friends, Jacque and Rheanna.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and son, Jerry Ivan Gonser.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Melrose with Rev. Dick Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Chad Bostwick, Rex Bostwick, Justin Newman, Carlos Ruiz, Monte Bostwick, Camille Barcuch, Brendi Cabeldue, Rheanna Brzozowski, Karri Hatley, Konni Wallace, Jacque Randall and Gina Thornell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Baptist Childrens Home, Box 629, Portales, NM 88130.
