Herbert Root

Herb Root went home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2007. Herb was born June 21, 1929 in McFarland, California.

He grew up on a farm and graduated from McFarland High School. After attending La Verne College in La Verne, California he married Lillian Stroud of Clovis, NM on October 19, 1951. The couple had 3 children, Karen, Galen, and Sandra. He farmed in the McFarland, Ca area through the 50's 60's and then was called into the ministry with the Church of the Brethren. After leaving the ministry in the late 1970's he became a painting contractor in the Omaha, Nebraska area. In 1991, he and wife Lillian moved to the Clovis area to care for Lillian's mother Elsie Stroud and Lillian's aunt, Eva Crumley. Herb continued to paint in the Clovis area, even after retiring.

He is survived by his wife Lillian Root of Clovis, children Karen Skinner Dale of Parker, Co, Galen Root of Clovis, and Sandra Storer Robert of Prosser, Wa. He is also survived by his brother Robert Root of McFarland, Ca. He was preceded in death by his parents Emerson Mae Root and sisters Lois Charlotte.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007 at New Life Assembly of God in Clovis with Pastor Rodney Shipman officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories.

Casket bearers will be John Corsey, Russ Hawkins, Mike Robinson, George Polinski, Johnny Stroud and Ernie Marshall.
