Herman C. Mitchell

Age 96, a longtime resident of Clovis, NM, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 13, 2012. He is survived by his daughters, Charleene Lennox and husband Cecil of Albuquerque, NM, Elaine Edwardson of Phoenix, AZ and Lee Smith and husband Carl of Borger, TX his brother W. Y. Mitchell and wife Della, and his sister Kate Franklin. He was the proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and five greatgreat grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers Hugh, Glenn, and George two sisters, Mary and Argie his wives Gazelle, Meada and Pauline, his daughter Ella Pierce, and two grandsons, Richard Lennox and Dave Harville.

Herman was born in San Jon, NM, on April 23, 1916. He grew up in House, NM, and attended Eastern New Mexico Junior College and was in the first graduating class in 1935. He went back to House, got married, started a family, and then moved to Clovis in 1946. He worked as a mail carrier for 31 years. He always loved his Lord and served Him in his church. He loved his family and always enjoyed getting together with his brothers and sisters and their families.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at SteedTodd Funeral Home in Clovis, New Mexico from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Services will be Saturday, June16 at 2:00pm at Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel, 800 E. Manana Blvd. Clovis, New Mexico. Interment will follow at the House Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Mexico Baptist Childrens Home, Box 629, Portales, NM, 88130
