Jacovo De Leon, 61, of Clovis, NM passed away on June 24, 2019 in Lubbock, TX.
Prayer service and Rosary will be 4:30 PM on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel, Deacon Daniel Chavez officiating. Arrangements are in care of Steed Todd Funeral Home.
Jacovo was born September 10, 1957 in San Antonio de los Bravos, Coahuila, Mexico to Rodrigo and Ilialia. He was raised by his paternal aunt, Nicholasa Ortega and her husband Francisco Ortega in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He enjoyed long walks and riding his bicycle through the streets of Clovis. He found great joy and satisfaction in gardening and mowing the lawns of family and friends. He was well known at Clovis Recycling where he was fond of spending time with his friends. Jacovo found great pleasure in listening to music from several artists, especially John Lennon, Los Freddys, Los Terricolas, and Rigo Tovar, to name a few. He was also a talented handy man; he relished working on cars and teaching his sons. He adored dancing and spending time with friends and family. He had a special touch in cooking chilaquiles and ceviche, some of his family's favorites. He spent several years in California, where he fell in love with the ocean. He also loved taking his young children to the many parks there and sharing his love of the outdoors.
Jacovo is preceded in death by his mother and father and his uncle Francisco Ortega.
Jacovo is survived by his children from his relationship with (Dora A. Esquivel) Sergio J. De Leon, Ana T. De Leon (Jesus Plascensia Jr.), Noemi De Leon Garcia, Julia A. De Leon (Gustavo) Gonzales, Cesar R. (Cassie) De Leon, Monica De Leon, and from his relationship with (Maryann Fabela) Fabian Fabela, Rosa M. De Leon (Meagan Alvarez), Jacob De Leon Jr., 25 grandchildren, Nicholasa Ortega, and sisters and brothers in Mexico.
The family of Jacovo De Leon wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sister, Ana, for loving Dad unconditionally and always being there for him. Sincere thanks to all the staff at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Oncology Floor, Interim Home Health Care nurse, Teresa Tarango RN, and everyone involved in the care of our Dad.
