Jacqueline Davis

August 10, 1955 — September 28, 2020

Clovis, New Mexico

Jacqueline Lea (Stout) Davis was born on August 10, 1955, to Roberta and Calvin Stout of Grady, NM.

She loved her life on a ranch near Grady, where she attended school and graduated from Grady High

School. During her teen-age years she excelled in 4-H projects, from raising market show animals to

sewing and design, winning numerous awards, including the New Mexico Make it Yourself With Wool

Contest. After high school she attended Texas Tech University, majoring in Textiles and Fashion

Design. As a child she had polio and spent several months in an iron lung machine. She emerged from

this tragic interruption of her young life with an indomitable spirit and a determination to make the

most of her life. She married Kenneth Davis in 1981, the same year Diana married Prince Charles.

People in Clovis said they had their own “royal wedding”.

She and her family owned and operated The Blue Room in Clovis for 20 years. She founded “ Lady J

Designs”, a business in which she was the head designer and distributed that line of clothing

throughout the U.S. and internationally. Following this, she outfitted a motor home to use as a traveling

showroom for her women's fashions and sportswear lines, traveling to many cities in Texas, New

Mexico, and Oklahoma. One of her most impressive accomplishments was as a marketing

representative for Silpada sterling silver jewelry, a U.S. Company based in Kansas from 2000-2015. It

was there that she achieved #1 personal sales nationwide in 2007, 2008, and 2009; plus #3 Rookie

Business Developer Nationwide in 2008, and her largest award was the Nationwide #1 Million Dollar

Moments for 2012. She set sales records that have never been matched. These prestigious awards

show the excellence in Jacqueline's work ethic, which earned wonderful trips for herself and Kenneth.

Her business success was due to her high energy, work ethic, creativity, talent, and the fact that she

never met a stranger, She was happy and eager to visit with everyone. Her last big projects were

assisting Kenneth in starting the Ranchvale Volunteer Fire Department and renovating the Ranchvale

School into a community center that has hosted weddings, quincineras, and other community events.

She suffered several health setbacks and passed away September 28, 2020. She was preceded in death

by her parents and will be interred in the same Grady cemetery where they are buried. She will be

lovingly remembered and missed by her husband Kenneth Davis of Clovis; her sister Janice Gardner

(husband Olin) of Ruidoso, and their children: Andrea Hudson (Brian) of Albuquerque and son Greg of

Ruidoso. Sister-in-law, Irene Davis Jones (Bob) and their children: KC Schooley, Robbie McKenzie,

and Bonnie McCready. She also leaves many loving cousins and friends who knew and admired her.

Her motto “Live Large – Take Charge” sums up her approach to her large and well-lived life.
