alignjustifyJames A. Hanks, 92, passed from this life Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007 at Laurel Plains Healthcare in Clovis. He was born Sept. 7, 1914 in Galva, Ill. to Asa and Goldia Bloom Hanks.

alignjustifyMr. Hanks married Marian Green on June 20, 1926. He worked for Illinois Central Railroad in Chicago for 43 years. He and his wife moved to Portales in 1977. She died in 1983 and he moved to Clovis in 1996 to be closer to his family. Mr. Hanks loved cars and being a mechanic.

alignjustifyHe is survived by four sons, Charles of Homewood, Ill., James of Mechanicsburg, PA, Jerry and Jack both of Clovis, one daughter Karen of Dyer, Ind., 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Carver and Doral.

alignjustifyGraveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, Feb. 5, 2007 at the Portales Cemetery.
