James Hughes

James (Jim) R. Hughes, of Clovis, NM went to be with our Heavenly Father Monday, March 2, 2015.

Jim was born January 19, 1937 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Carl and Clovis Hughes. He graduated from East University with a Bachelor's Degree and moved to Clovis and shortly after became a teacher at Gattis Jr High for 10 years and was the owner of Clovis Cycle and RV for 51 years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he loved singing in the choir and serving his Lord by leading one of the Sunday School Classes. He was a member of Gideon International. Jim had a passion for motorcycles.

Jim is survived by wife Barbara Hughes, of Clovis, NM; 2 daughters Cheryl Gaedke, of Albuquerque, NM and Chrissy Nielsen, of Lubbock, TX; 6 grandchildren; Brandi Tripp, Andy Wood, Justin Hughes, Olivia Hughes, Myles Nielsen, and Londyn Nielsen; 1 great granddaughter Kailyn Tripp.

He is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Clovis Hughes, his son Steve Hughes, and a grandson Tyler Quinn Wood.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Gaedke, Dane Nielsen, Andy Wood, George Ratledge, Terry Townsend, and Larry Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lonnie Leslie, Junior Dallas, Byron North, and Stan Patterson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Steed Todd Funeral Home, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Central Baptist Church at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Lawn Haven Cemetery.
