James Larson

October 4, 1926 — March 10, 2010

Services for James August Larson, 83, of Clovis, New Mexico will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 13 at Sandia Baptist Church with Rev. Wes McAfee and Rev. Chris Mullennix officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

He was born in Villisca, IA. to Chres and Margaret E. Bolt Larson. He died at Plains Regional Medical Center.

Jim married Elsie McCoy, the prettiest girl he had ever seen, August 28, 1951 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He was a Service Representative for J.I. Case tractor company. He served in the United States National Guard. He was a member of the Clovis Masonic Lodge 40 AFAM and was a longstanding member of Sandia Baptist Church.

Jim loved working on small engines in the shop he built, reading Louis LAmour books, and watching John Wayne movies. His quick wit and the twinkle in his eyes made it impossible to escape his charm. He had a great amount of common sense and a gentlemanly way of sharing it. He was a great listener who put thought into advice he shared and the gifts he gave. Jim was everything a man is supposed to be for his family and neighbors. He was appreciated for his dependability. Most of all, he will be remembered for his stories, long or short, almost always with a touch of humor, even if the subject was serious.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first son James W. Larson and his beloved Elsie.

He will be dearly missed by 1 son Charles A. Larson Tonya of Las Vegas, NV 4 grandsons Seth, Nathan, James Michael, 2 granddaughters Diamond Hailey 3 brothers Paul Larson of Casper, WY Kenneth Larson of Brookville, OH Loren Larson of Red Oak, IA and 1 sister Mary Rosch of Red Oak, IA.

Casketbearers will be Jay James, Artie James, Ken Carlson, Mike Chisum, Rex Chisum, Bryan Boone, Tommy Hohstadt Bill Reed.

A measure of Jims value can be seen in the quality of people that watched after him in his final days. A special prayer is said in gratitude for those friendships.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home in Portales, New Mexico.
