James Mills

James C. Mills of Clovis, NM, passed away at home the afternoon of June 30, 2010. Born on September 27, 1919 in Searcy County, Arkansas, he was the son of Ben Frank and Rosa Lea Mills. In January 1941 Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army at Little Rock, Arkansas. While in service he met Dolly Baker and they were married on August 9, 1942, in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Jim belonged to the Central Christian Church of Clovis and was a member of both the American Legion, Post 25, and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6 both of Clovis.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents an infant son his daughter, Judy PanKonie his motherinlaw and fatherinlaw, James W. and Olive Baker two brothers, Claude and Clyde Mills and one sister, Bessie Stafford. He is survived by his wife, Dolly Mills of Clovis, NM one sister, Odessa Thornton of Fairfield, PA two daughters and their husbands, Dyann and Jesse Abarca of Portales, NM, and Rosalie and Bob Robinson of Clovis, NM grandchildren, Jeff and Michelle Young of Rodgers, AR Teresa and John Mondragon of Portales, NM Ray PanKonie of Johnson City, TN Sean PanKonie, Wisconsin and Warren and Sarah Robinson of Springfield, MO stepgrandchildren, Aaron and Tonia Abarca of Friona, TX Jason and Sally Abarca, Hawaii and Jessica and Tony Lambert of Abilene, TX greatgrandchildren, Christian Chapman, Texas Jasmine Young and Jenna Mondragon of Portales, NM Taylor, Morgan, and Aaron PanKonie of Johnson City, TN Anthony, Gabriel, and Lilly Abarca of Friona, TX Jesse Abarca, Hawaii and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at SteedTodd Chapel in Clovis, NM, with burial at the Bailey County Cemetery in Muleshoe, TX. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p. m. 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the funeral home.

Casket bearers will be Jesse Abarca, Jeff Young, Bob Robinson, Warren Robinson, Tony Lambert and John Mondragon.
