James Riley Williams, born August 9, 1929 in Clovis, New Mexico went to be with the lord on Tuesday, September 16, 2008.
James and his wife Naomi farmed and ranched southwest of Grady, New Mexico for 44 years and raised 4 children. James served two terms as Curry County Commissioner, was the first President of the New Mexico Association of Counties, served on the New Mexico Farm and Livestock Bureau Board of Directors and was a Deacon of the Central Christian Church in Clovis. He also served as a member of the Grady School Board; several years on the Curry County Fair Board; the Clovis Library Board and the Memorial Hospital Board. He was a supporter of 4-H and FFA for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Naomi and their children: Connie and Bill Johnson of Columbus, New Mexico, Peggy and Pete Miller of Houston, Texas; Glen and Nancy Williams of Clovis, New Mexico and Judy and Eric Rusk of San Jon, New Mexico. He is survived by 9 grandchildren: William and Jody Johnson of Deming, New Mexico; Kit and Ramie Cheney of Weatherford, Texas; James and Kena Johnson of Columbus, New Mexico; Natalie and Mike Standley of Houston, Texas; Monica and Eric Drager of Texico, New Mexico; Cheston Williams of Belgrade, Montana; Brandon Williams of Belgrade, Montana; Trey Rusk of San Jon, New Mexico; Wyatt Williams of Clovis, New Mexico; and 11 great-grandchildren, Meghan, Kalee, T.J., Walker, Rylee, Jason, Shelby, Corey, Alyssa, Ethan and Maddox. He is survived by one brother Charles Williams and two sisters Joann and Billy Neil Williams and Wanda Horton all of Clovis and a brother-in-law Earl Blackwell of Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Glen and Lillie Williams, brother, Jack Williams of Clovis, sister Glenda Blackwell of Dallas and grandchild Amber Cheney of Houston, Texas.
He was a Christian, and lived his life as a loving, kind and honest man. He will be missed by many, especially his family.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Central Christian Church with Pastor Bill Brewer officiating.
