Jane Elnor Young, 93, of Midland, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2008. She passed away peacefully at the Trinity Haven Home in Midland, Texas, where she resided with her husband of sixty-five years, Joel E. Young.
Mrs. Young was born April 12, 1915, in McPherson County, South Dakota, to Evan A. and Anna McKenzie Jones, and grew up in Leola, South Dakota. She married Joel Young on May 11, 1943, in Socorro, New Mexico.
Mrs. Young was a homemaker, who was also an accomplished artist, known for her beautiful oil paintings of the Southwest and of Santa Fe trains. Prior to moving to Midland, Mrs. Young resided in Clovis and was a member of Sandia Baptist Church. She was a friend to everyone who knew her and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mrs. Young will be greatly missed by her husband, as well as her children, Joel W.Young and his wife Pat of Midland, Jarvis Young of Dallas, Texas, and Dixie Johnson and her husband Travis of Roswell, New Mexico. Also surviving Mrs. Young are five grandchildren, Launa Wesley Waller of Clovis, Dondi John Moran, of McKinney, Texas, Lori Collins, of Jacksonville, Florida, Joeli Young of Midland, and Lance Bateman of Clovis. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers.
Services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Steed Todd Chapel with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Pallbearers will be Lance Bateman, Phillip Carrasco, Travis Johnson, Wesley Waller, Tommy Arguello and Mike Leatherwood.
Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Family request in lieu of flowers memorials to be made the Hospice of Midland P.O. Box 2621 Midland, Texas 79702.
