Jay "Jack" Reynold Draper, 73, of Melrose, New Mexico went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 7, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Jay was born on July 25, 1945 to the home of Joseph Chance and Ruby Mildred (Rumbaugh) Draper in Clovis, New Mexico. He served in the US Navy from 1965 - 1969. On September 12, 1970, he married the love of his life, Dallas Faye (Franks) Draper.
Jay is preceded in death by his parents, and his great-grandson Rhett Rush.
Jay is survived by his wife, Dallas Draper; sons, Joe (Gwynne) Draper, Jay (Allison) Draper, both of Melrose, New Mexico, and Jerry (Amy) Draper of Texico; daughter, Shonta (Bret) Payne of Melrose; sisters, Norma (Jim) Rogers of Clovis and Glenda (A.B.) Jones of Melrose; grandchildren, Garrett (Elizabeth) Bruce, Jessica (Zachariah) Mares, Bretlee Payne, Dusty Payne, Levi Payne, Trey (Shay) Roberts, Ta'Neil (Cedar) Rush, Lane Riley, Dylan Draper, Kambree Draper, Lane (McKayla) Draper, Kelsey (Cody) Mortensen, Colton Draper, Cy Draper, Hally Draper, Addyson Draper, Kylee Draper, Kyndall Draper; great-grandchildren, Jamar, Teayonna, Markus, Zaniya, Delainey Bruce, Steely Rush, Tacer Rush, Kash Mortensen, Baby Mortensen and Baby Draper.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 10th at Steed Todd Funeral Home from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Funeral services are Friday, January 11th at First Baptist Church of Melrose at 10:00am. Serving as pallbearers are Trey Roberts, Cedar Rush, Garrett Bruce, Lane Draper, Cody Mortensen, Zach Mares, Colton Draper, Lane Riley, Bretlee Payne, Dusty Payne, Dylan Draper, Cy Draper, and Levi Payne. Honorary bearers are Tacer Rush, Kash Mortensen, Butch Smith, Dalten Harper, A.B. Jones, Bob Rogers, Dean Vineyard, Marshall Bradley and Tedi Smith.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Melrose Youth Center.
