Jean Leatherwood, 70, of Clovis, New Mexico died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. She was born September 17, 1936 in Clovis to John Tinnie Gibbs Burchett.
She married Donald W. Leatherwood June 21, 1953 in Ranchvale, New Mexico. She had been a resident of Clovis all her life. She loved to sew, watch her grandchildren, rodeo and watching the PBR Association Bull Riding. She was a member of Ranchvale Baptist Church and helped found the High Plains Junior Rodeo Association.
She is survived by 3 sons, Terry Leatherwood Lanell of Grady, New Mexico, Dusty Leatherwood Carroll and Mike Leatherwood Kathy all of Clovis; 1 daughter, Kandi Davidson Rick of Hobbs, New Mexico; 1 niece, Diane Thompson of Hobbs; 3 nephews, Limey Riley Diana of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Danny Riley Jan of Clovis and Brian Hawkins Angie of Maryland; 20 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 1 sister, Weytha Hawkins.
Casketbearers will be Lester Lee Leatherwood, Shane Leatherwood, Ryan Leatherwood, Chris Lewis, Miles Thompson, Cimmeron Thompson, John Riley, Josh Riley, Jeremy Riley and Brandon Davidson.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Ranchvale Baptist Church, Ranchvale, New Mexico with Rev. Rody Chesser and Ryan Figg officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery, Melrose, New Mexico.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Clovis Cowboy Fellowship, co 775 CR M, Clovis, New Mexico 88101 or to the Baptist Childrens Home.
The family will be at the home of Mike Leatherwood, 924 CR 15, Clovis, New Mexico.
