Jean Travis

Jean B. Travis, 80, of Farwell, Texas, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Farwell Convalescent Center. She was born December 20, 1929, in Roosevelt County, New Mexico, to Troy Ethel Anderson Brown.

She graduated from Dora High School in 1947 and later graduated from Draughons Business School. She married Harold Travis September 12, 1948 in Dora, New Mexico. She farmed with her husband in the Farwell Community and also worked as Assistant County Treasurer office. She loved to crochet and paint. She was a member of Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Farwell, Texas.

She is survived by 2 sons, Terry Travis Nedda of Farwell and Mike Travis Jane of Lancaster, Texas 1 sister, Zell Taylor of Portales, New Mexico 1 brother, Delbert Brown of Portales 4 granddaughters, Brea Barner Brent of Austin, Texas, Kari Benson of Minnesota, Stacy Taylor and Katie OConnor both of Dallas, Texas 1 grandson, Joshua Travis Sara of Denton, Texas 7 great grandchildren, Payton, Makenna, Isabel, Nolan, Andrew, Addisyn and Landry.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband 1 granddaughter, Candace 3 brothers, Peet, Leo and Glenn and 2 sisters, Iva Wilmoth and Cordia Harvey.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. CDT Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Farwell with Rev. Randall Partin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Terrace Memorial Cemetery in Farwell.

Casket bearers will be nephews: Rusty Schoepf, Randall Jensen, Fred Stevens, Wesley Brown, Jerry Zimmerman and Mike Palmentera. .
