Jerry Milton May was born in Clovis, New Mexico to Bill and Virginia May on March 20, 1946. He was a loving husband, father, and uncle, and had many friends both near and far. He hired out for the Santa Fe Railroad as a clerk in 1966. On May 10th, 1969 he married the love of his life Sammye Trinkle in Juarez Mexico. Jerry got his college degree in 1970, and was promoted to head timekeeper of the entire Southwest Division of the Santa Fe Railroad and moved to Topeka Kansas. On November 5th, 1973, Jerry and Sammye were blessed with a son they named Shane. Life was good in Topeka, but Jerry didn't like sitting behind a desk, dictating notes to a secretarial pool, or wearing a tie, so in 1974 he packed up his wife and son and moved back to Clovis to become a locomotive engineer on the Santa Fe's main line. Jerry retired in 2006 after 40 years of service to the Santa Fe, and looked for new ways to harass his friends and family for the last 15 years. He was a master harasser, and was loved by all. If he didn't tease you, he didn't like you. God called Jerry home on June 9th, 2021, where he was greeted by his mom and dad, Bob, Kent, Jack and Keith. Jerry is survived by his incredible wife Sammye, his son Shane, his sisters Bobbie, Jan, and Sherri, and a whole passel of nieces, nephews, and all of their families.
Mr. Mays funeral will be Wednesday June 16th at 10:00 am at Steed Todd Funeral Home, with viewings on Monday June 14th and Tuesday June 15th from 2-4pm.
