Jimmie Porter

Jimmie D. Porter, age 66 of Borger, Texas and formerly of Clovis, New Mexico passed away on May 31, 2013 at Baptist St. Anthonys Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.

Jimmie was born on May 5, 1947 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to George Thomas and Perlie May Knight Porter. He joined the Army and served for four year as a Communication Specialist while he was stationed in Germany. After his service in the Army, he moved to Clovis, New Mexico. He married Rosie Maria Lopez on January 25, 1969 in Clovis, New Mexico. He worked as a sign electrician for Denton Electrical in Denton, Texas, Hager Signs in Clovis, New Mexico and Delk Electric in Clovis, New Mexico. Jimmie loved horses and trail rides. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycles. He also collected knives. Jimmie loved his grandchildren and he loved to sing.

Jimmie is survived by his wife, Rosie Porter of the home in Borger, Texas three sons: Alex Nancy Porter and Doug Joann Porter, both of Amarillo, Texas and Jeff Samantha Porter of Borger, Texas four sisters: Mary Dunagan and Pat Beck, both of Clovis, New Mexico and Cathy Thornton of Glen Rose, Texas and Gloria Sutter of Lewisville, Texas two sistersin law: Cricket Porter of Arlington, Texas and Marylou Lopez of Amarillo, Texas thirteen grandchildren: Rosie Archer, Christopher Porter, Sarah Porter, Aerial Porter, Blake Porter, Bobby Porter, Nicole Comacho, Nathan Askins, Neil Graham, Nicholas Porter, Nevaeh Porter, Ashley Porter and Aaryanna Porter four great grandchildren: Brandon Archer, Caleb Archer, Darion Blackshere, Malachi Comacho and numerous foster grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: George Thomas Porter and Perlie May Porter one brother: George Thomas Porter, Jr. his mother and fatherin law: Ramona Lopez and Lorenzo Lopez and one brotherinlaw: Orlando Lopez.

A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at SteedTodd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis, New Mexico with Deacon Daniel Chavez officiating. Funeral Services are at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at SteedTodd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis, New Mexico with Reverend Jim Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Texico Cemetery in Texico, New Mexico. Casket bearers are Danny Dunagan, Kenny Dunagan, Robert Beck, Kenneth Glaze, Javier Castillo, Matthew Lopez, Christopher Porter and Abraham Castillo. Honorary Casket Bearers are Lee Lopez and Arthuro Lopez.
