Jo Ann Jones was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on June 25, 2010 after a two year battle with ovarian cancer. Jo Ann was born November 27, 1951 in Iaeger, West Virginia. When she was 5, her family moved to New Mexico where she lived the rest of her life. Her fathers career with the state highway department allowed them to live in several different towns throughout New Mexico. She graduated from Manzano High School in Albuquerque in 1969, and then attended New Mexico State University on a Math Scholarship. She met and married Arthur R. Jones while at NMSU. They were married and sealed in the Manti Utah Temple in Manti, UT on April 6, 1974. They lived in Las Cruces, NM for a number of years where her six living children were born.
She and her family lived in Roswell, NM for four years prior to moving to Clovis in 1988. She worked for American Greeting Cards for 16 years and for VideoII for 19 years. Jo Ann was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in leadership roles in Primary, Young Women and Relief Society both on a Ward and Stake levels.
She loved doing the daily crossword puzzle and word jumble. She also enjoyed playing games with family and friends and excelled at trivia games. Jo Ann loved her family and enjoyed traveling to visit with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joe Ellwood and Mary Louise Musick and one daughter, Jennifer Ann Jones. She is survived by her husband, Arthur R. Jones of Clovis, six children Angela Garcia Mike of Tucson, AZ, DeAnna Duckworth Robbie of Albuquerque, NM, David Jones Shae of Santaquin, UT, Scott Jones Lela of Muleshoe, TX, Steven Jones Jenny of Las Cruces, NM and Jeff Jones Ashley of Las Cruces, NM, thirteen grandchildren Paris, Phoenix and Sydney Garcia of Tucson, AZ, Cambria, Hayden and Samuel Duckworth of Albuquerque, NM, Abi Jones of Muleshoe, TX, Isabel, Daniel, Myles, and Adriana Jones of Las Cruces, NM, and Bridgett and Maeley Jones of Las Cruces, NM. She is also survived by three sisters Joyce Combs Bryan of Moriarity, NM, Kaye Thompson James of El Centro, CA, Janet Bilyeu of Phoenix, AZ, and one brother Joey Musick Susan of Atlanta, GA.
Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ located at 2800 Lore in Clovis on Tuesday June 29, 2010 at 10:00am with Bishop Brad Heath officiating. Interment will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robbie Duckworth, Mike Garcia, Scott Jones, Steven Jones, Jeff Jones and James Hancock.
