Joanna Bostwick

March 19, 1946 — November 21, 2011

On November 21, 2011, Jesus called Joanna Fay Gonser Bostwick, to her eternal home in heaven. She was born into the home of J.I. Spec and Helen Shumate Gonser on March 19, 1946. Joanna was raised northwest of Melrose, NM, and graduated from Melrose High School with the class of 1964. It was during her high school years she met the love of her life Wendell Bostwick and married him June 20, 1965. To this union was born three sons Rex Ivan, Chad Len, and Monte Joe. She graduated frm Eastern New Mexico University with degrees in education and counseling. She taught in the Clovis and Melrose school systems for 31 years touching the lives of her many students with her loving and caring ways. She always saw the good in each student and loved each and every one of them.

Joanna accepted the Lord at an early age and served Him in her church and community throughout her life. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Melrose where she taught Sunday School, VBS, Awannas, and sang in the choir.

Joanna always lived her life to the fullest. She was her boys 1 fan at their athletic events and fair activities. She loved quilting, Bible study, and reading and yet she still found time to serve others. She treasured her role as GJo to her grandchildren,JoJo to all her nieces and nephews plus spending time with her twin sister Dianna.
Joanna was greeted in Heaven by her parents, J.I. and Helen Gonser and her older brother Jerry Gonser. Remaining here to treasure her memories are her husband Wendell Bostwick, sons Rex Bostwick, Chad Brandi Bostwick, Monte Mandy Bostwick and Carlos Ruiz along with grandchildren Kaedan, Kyler, Corbin, Carli, Kenzi, Ian, Gracen andCanaan Bostwick. She is also survivied by her twin sister, Dianna Kay Johnny Newman and sisterinlaw, Eileen Dicky Massey, and many other family members.

Serving as pallbearers are her sons and grandsons. Services will be held on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Melrose First Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in her honor to the Baptist Childrens Home, P.O. Box 629, Portales, NM 88130 Melrose Baptist Youth Fund, 102 Wisconsin, Melrose, NM 88124 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1856, Clovis, NM 88101.
