Joe Ann Jodey Joiner age 86 of Clovis, NM passed away Friday, October 26, 2007 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. She was born March 10, 1921 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Harry and Tulla Sasser Whitman. She came to Clovis in 1939 to work for her Uncle George Sasser at the old Fox Drug Store. She married Jim Joiner August 16, 1941 in Carlsbad, NM. They moved to Vaughan, NM in 1944 when Jim got a job with the Santa Fe Railroad; they returned to Clovis in 1948 where she continued to live here until her passing. She worked as a Secretary-Loan Officer for the old Clovis National Bank from 1955 until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school classes and sometimes filled in at the office when needed. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years Jim Joiner of Clovis; one Daughter Sue and her husband Henry Fischer of Joliet, Illinois; one son Harold Joiner of Houston, TX; two grandsons Noel Kirch of Philadelphia, PA, and Lance Kirch of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Ava Dell Brown.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Steed-Todd Chapel with Dr. Joel Horne officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Pallbearers will be J.B. Taylor, George Hicks, Lee Roach, Darryl Roach, Lynn Martin, and Tom Reese. Honorary Pallbearers will be all her friends and the First Baptist Church Mens Bible Class.
