Joel White

Joel Preston White, age 89, of Farwell, Texas passed away on March 6, 2013 at his home in Farwell, Texas.

Joel was born on February 20, 1924 in Parmer County, Texas to Albert Dewey and Bessie Lee Nuckolls White. Joel was raised and lived in Parmer County all of his life. Joel married Katherine Jean Magness on June 10, 1953 in Clovis, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2005. Most of his life was spent farming in Parmer County. He had been a butcher and a mechanic. Joel served on the Farwell Volunteer Fire Department where he was Chief for many years. He served in the United States Navy in WWII in the South Pacific. He was a member of Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Farwell, Texas. Joel had a servants heart and was very humble. He would help anyone at anytime with whatever they needed.

Joel is survived by three daughters: Lynne Robin Mahaney, Joyce Rick Ketcherside and Peggy Mike Goettsch, all of Farwell, Texas two sons: Boyd Susan White of Farwell, Texas and Bruce Terri White of Levelland, Texas one sister: Theda Taylor and one brother: Gwynne White, both of Amarillo, Texas fourteen grandchildren: Jody and Justin Mahaney, Jade Holt, Nic, Preston and Spencer Ketcherside, Derek and Devin Goettsch, Edie, Katey and Brody White and Joel, Bryant and Laci White nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Katherine and three brothers.

Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m.CST on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Farwell, Texas with Rev. Keith Niehaus officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Terrace Memorial Cemetery in Farwell, Texas. Casket bearers are Joels grandchildren.
