Joel Edwin Young of Clovis N.M. went to be with his Lord and the love of his life Elnor on Saturday, November 22, 2008, in Midland, Texas.
Joel was born in Wright County, Missouri, in 1921. He moved to New Mexico in 1942 and started working for the Santa Fe Railroad, where he met and married Elnor Jane Jones sixty-five years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II from 1943 to 1946 in France and South Africa.
He is survived by daughter Dixie Johnson Travis of Roswell N.M., sons Joel Young Patricia of Midland, Texas and Jarvis Young of Dallas, Texas, sister Larue Fengler of Moundville, Missouri, granddaughters Launa Waller Wesley of Clovis, Dondi Moran John of McKinney, Texas, Lori Collins of Jacksonville, Florida, Joeli Young of Midland, and grandson, Lance Bateman of Roswell and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Elnor on July 29, 2008, his parents, three brothers and three sisters and son-in-law Brent Bateman.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday November 26th at Steed Todd Chapel, 800 E. Manana, Clovis, New Mexico with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Pallbearers will be Lance Bateman, Travis Johnson, Tommy Arguello, Mike Leatherwood, Wesley Waller, and William Young. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
