John Brewer

Services for John Brewer age 86 of Portales, New Mexico will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Steed Todd Chapel with Steve Smith and Kenneth Dusworth officiating. Burial will follow at the Melrose Cemetery in Melrose, New Mexico. Pallbearers will be Nolan Fish, Johnny Cothern, Ray Brewer, Duane Howard, Willard Orear, and Lynn Brewer. Mr. Brewer passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at his home in Portales, New Mexico. He was born January 24, 1922 in Blake, Oklahoma to John and Alma White Brewer. He graduated from Ranchvale High School and he married Laverna Tiffin on August 15, 1942 in Portales, New Mexico. He was a longtime rancher and all around cowboy in the Clovis Area. He also worked for the Livestock Sale Barn in Clovis for four years. He enjoyed training horses, roping, hunting, and fishing and was a member of the Ranchvale Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of Sixty Six years Laverna Brewer of Portales; numerous nieces and nephews; three cousins Lavell, Bill and Donnie Chisum and a host of friends .
