John Crow, age 87, of Clovis, NM went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in Clovis. He was born to the home of Everett Crow and Dora Metzger Crow in Faulkner County, Arkansas on May 16, 1931.
John attended schools in Arkansas, New Mexico and Colorado. He attended ENMU in Portales, NM. John joined the United States Air Force in 1949 and served in Japan during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. He was discharged in 1953. John married Joyce Fisher on August 14, 1953. They lived south of Portales where he farmed and raised cattle until moving to Clovis in 2001. John worked for K Barnett & Sons for several years before working civil service as a construction inspector. He retired from civil service in 1997. John served as a Deacon and church pianist at Emmanuel Baptist in Portales for several years before moving to Clovis. He is now a member of Central Baptist in Clovis.
His greatest hobby was playing gospel music at community singings with friends and other musicians around Portales and Floyd area. John also enjoyed going deer hunting with his son and grandsons.
John is survived by his wife, Joyce Crow of the home; son, Rick (Donna) Crow of Texico; sister, Judy (George) Taylor of Edgewood; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018, 1:00pm at Central Baptist Church in Clovis with Jim Roberts and Clovis Gray officiating. A private burial will take place in the Plains Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Dan Johns, Jr., John Wes Wall, Garrett Crow, Trent Crow, Greg Cline, and Bryson Crow.
