John Edward Ellison age 91, of Clovis, New Mexico was born July 5, 1921 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to John Marion Ellison and Opal Margaret Reynolds Ellison. He passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas.
John married Jessie Nadine Owen August 26, 1944 in Roswell, New Mexico. John was an avid pilot, having served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He flew 50 combat missions as the pilot of B26s and B17s. He later served as an instrument flight instructor in B29s.
After serving as a B29 flight instructor and instrument instructor, John entered the University of New Mexico in the first class of Pharmacy students in 1946. He graduated in the first class in June 1949. He was awarded the H. E. Henry Award as the Most Distinguished Graduate in that Pharmacy class.
John was a Registered Pharmacist in the state of New Mexico for 60 years. He worked at the Stanley Pawol Pharmacy, Clovis Memorial Hospital Pharmacy, Medical Center Pharmacy, and C. J.s Pill Box in Portales.
After retiring from Pharmacy, John served as bookkeeper for the Zia Power Sports Company of Clovis.
John is survived by his wife Nadine Ellison of Clovis and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by one son, John one daughter, Marion Jo his parents one brother and one sister.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Lawn Haven Memorial Garden with Marsha Pattison and Joe Pattison officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Haverland, Jim Hobbs, Cody Swaim, Billy Owen, Bobby Owne, Tommy Owen, Ever Carrier, and Larry OBrien.
