John Wesley Wes Patterson Jr., 93, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Friday, May 14, 2010, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. He was born April 24, 1917, in Logan, New Mexico to John W. Mattie D. Fairburne Patterson.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. After basic training he was sent to Oran, North Africa where he helped set up a Base Ordinance Depot. He then served in southern France in a Field Depot with George Pattons 7th Army. He had been a resident of Clovis since 1968. He married Wilma L. Ford March 6, 1970, in Clovis, New Mexico. During his working life he had numerous jobs, including owning and operating the Gambles Stores in Springer and Portales. He sold cars at Big Country Ford and J. C. Smith. He worked at McDaniels Furniture and Sears. He also had been a financial advisor for Fortis for many years. He was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church and the Mens Bible Class.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma of the home 1 son, G. W. Garv Patterson and wife Stacy of Taos, New Mexico 1 step daughter, Cathi Mullins and husband Ernie of Clovis 1 step son, Rod Collinsworth Roberta of Amarillo, Texas 12 grandchildren numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 daughter, Marlene Ditto. He was the last surviving child of 9 brothers and sisters.
Casket bearers will be family members. Honorary casket bearers will be all his friends at the Senior Citizens Center.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at SteedTodd Chapel with Pastor David Bachelor officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2010 at the funeral home.
