Johnny Lee Lay, age 73, of Melrose NM entered into the kingdom of Heaven on Dec 5th, 2020. He was born on Nov 14th, 1947 in Wasco CA to the home of Curtis and Ora (Blackburn) Lay.
Johnny was a rancher and farmer in Melrose his entire life.
He was a devoted member and deacon of the Melrose Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and traveling and spending time on his ranch with his cattle . His favorite past time was spending time with his grandkids. There was always a great story to be told with that special look. He always had time to visit, no matter how busy he was.
Johnny leaves behind his sons Jared (Brandi) Lay of Lubbock, TX and Jeremiah (Cali) Lay of Las Cruces, NM and a Daughter Joni (Shawn) Evans of Las Cruces, NM. His Brother Jim (Donna) Lay of Melrose, NM and sister Violet (Harvey) Widner of Dallas TX; 8 grandchildren LeeAnne Evans, John Evans, Braxton Lay, Jaxon Lay, Kara Lay, Addilyn Evans, Jacee Lay and Easton Gose.
Family had a private graveside service on Wednesday Dec 9th, 2020.
Preceding in his death are wife , Genita Lay, his parents Curtis and Ora Lay, Brothers Gene Lay and Curtis Jr Lay
The family request the memorial contributions be made to the Johnny and Genita Lay memorial scholarship fund (American Heritage Bank) or the Alzeheimers Association.
