Jonnye Mae December (Mae Foster)
Jonnye Mae December, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on August 19, 2024, at the age of 89 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on March 4, 1935, in Clovis, New Mexico, to Johnnie Foster and Ruby (Vaughn).
Jonnye's life was filled with love, adventure, and family. She married the love of her life, Tom December, on August 19, 1982. Their deep bond was evident throughout their marriage until Tom's passing in 2014.
Jonnye was a devoted mother to both of her children and shared her final years living in same room as her daughter Paula.
She is survived by her son Dennis Wyatt and his wife Mary, who reside in Woodrow. Fred Costilla of Levelland. She was also a proud grandmother to Bryan Putman (Ashli) of Amarillo, Allen Putman (Vickie) of Wolfforth, Kaleigh Sanchez (Jason) of Ft. Worth, Eric Wyatt (Katie) of Lubbock, and Brittany Bradley (Ryan) of Lubbock. Her family continues to grow, and she was blessed with many great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marilyn Foster, wife of her late brother Artie, who resides in California, along with many other loved ones, extended family, and dear friends.
Jonnye was predeceased by her beloved husband, Tom December; her daughter, Paula Putman; and her brothers, Frank Foster and Artie Foster.
Jonnye's love for travel began in childhood as she explored the country with her parents. This passion continued into adulthood when she married Frank Wyatt (1934-2009), a military man. Together with their children, they explored much of the United States and various overseas destinations. Japan held a special place in her heart, and her home was adorned with mementos from her time there, including the Japanese wisteria that grace her backyard.
In her younger years, Jonnye worked as a nurse's aide at Methodist Hospital, caring for others with compassion. Later in life, she became a familiar face at local flea markets, where she specialized in selling collectible and antique items, she enjoyed gardening and decorating.Jonnye also bred dogs, which she lovingly referred to as her babies. Her last schnauzer, Missy, held a special place in her heart.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jonnye's life at a visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30th, 2024, at Steed-Todd Funeral Homes Chapel in Clovis, NM. She will be laid to rest at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, next to her beloved Tom.
