Joseph Aragon

Joseph John Aragon, age 81, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away on June 21, 2019 in Clovis, New Mexico.

Joseph was born on August 9, 1937 in Canon City, Colorado to Eugene and Euphrasine Aragon. He married Sherwyne Van Valkenburg on November 14, 1964 at McDill AFB in Tampa, Florida. He was a Clovis resident, having retired from the USAF as a MSgt after 23 years in 1978 and was employed as a US Postal Service mail carrier for over 20 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the local VFW and loved mountains, horses, military airplanes, patriotic apparel and gear, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with his kids, grandkids and other family and friends. He was a true Denver Broncos fan. Mr. Aragon was a loving son to his parents as well as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Joseph is survived by two sons: Eugene (Elaine) Aragon of Maryland and Raymond (Lourdes) Aragon of New Mexico; one daughter: Rosanna Aragon of New Mexico; two brothers: Chris Aragon of Colorado and Gerard Aragon of California; four sisters: Georgene Aragon of California, Patricia (Mando) Reyes of Colorado, Rita Clark of Colorado and Maria (Stormy) Stucker of Colorado; and three grandchildren: Logan Aragon, Evan Aragon and Kyra Aragon.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sherwyne, his parents and numerous brothers and sisters.

A Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at SteedTodd Chapel, 800 E. Manana Blvd, Clovis, New Mexico. Memorial Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Daniel Chavez officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Joseph's favorite charity: St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 North Main Street, Chamberlain, South Dakota 57325.
