Joseph Fash Fiola Sr., age 91, of Clovis, New Mexico died in his home Monday, May 4, 2009. Joe was born March 13, 1918 to Lucia Scarrillo and Nicolas Fiola in Long Island, New Jersey. He married Myrtle Ann Ader January 18, 1947 in Summit, New Jersey and they were married for 62 years.
Joe retired from the Post Office in Azusa, California after 20 years of service. He was a U. S. Marine receiving the Purple Heart in WWII. His passion was bowling, baseball and golf. His hobbies were stamp and coin collecting.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Fiola of the home; seven children, Mary Ann Tillman of New Jersey, Joe Fiola Jr., Carol Fiola and Art Fiola all of Clovis; Joyce Ramirez of Azusa, California, Marie Fiola of Las Vegas, Toni Fiola of N Hollywood, California; two sisters, Mary Delle Donte of Azusa and Sue Golding of Florida; 18 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Anthony, Rocco, Vito and Nicolas; sister, Rose and daughter Elizabeth.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009 at First Church of God in Clovis with Pastor Dave Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Casket bearers will be Art Fiola, Joe Fiola Jr., Toni Fiola, Bootsey Fiola, Andy Irvin, Nicole Fiola and Joseph Fiola III.
