Juan E. Barela, 84, of Clovis, NM, passed away at his home, on Sunday, November 23, 2014.

He was born April 17, 1930 to Espedion and Carolina Barela, in Ft. Sumner, New Mexico.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy Barela of Clovis, NM, 2 sons Harold Barela and fianc Nelly Backus of Clovis, NM, Johnny Barela of Clovis, NM, 7 daughters Kathy Haas of Lee Summtt, MO, Cindy and husband Eddy Garza of Greenville, SC, Martha and husband Ricky Chavez of Clovis, NM, Bertha and husband Alex Romero of Clovis, NM, Susan and husband Rosario Gallegos of Fritch, TX, Patsy and husband Louie Cruz of Davenport, IA, Teresa and husband Matt Hirt of Albuquerque, NM: and his stepchildren Ike and wife Christy Montoya of Artesia, NM Annette and husband Ricky Duarte of Muleshoe, TX, Lorraine and husband Mark Richards of Artesia, NM, and Angela and husband Kenny Hendeson of Albuquerque, NM, 2 brothers Manuel and wife Rosa Barela of Clovis, NM, Willie Barela of Ft. Sumner, NM, 2 sisters Ramona Sena of Ft. Sumner, NM and Frances Pena of Portales, NM, 42 grandchildren, 52 greatgrandchildren, and 1 great greatgrandchild.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents Espedion and Carolina Barela. 4 Brothers Felix Barela, Daniel Barela, Frank Barela, Richard Barela, and 2 sisters Mary Maes and Macedonia Lopez.

Visitation is set for Wednesday, November 26, 2014 from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm at SteedTodd Funeral Home. Service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, November 28, 2014, at SteedTodd Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Lawn Haven.
