Juanita Journey, age 83, of Clovis, NM passed away on January 31, 2019 in Clovis, NM.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 4, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Aztec, NM, with Reverend Mike Napier officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 PM at Memory Gardens in Farmington, NM. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home, Clovis, NM.
Juanita was born in Burdine, KY to John D. & Nola June Culbertson on March 1, 1935. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, VA. Juanita married Charles M. Journey in Seguin, Texas on October 27, 1951.
Juanita enjoyed gardening, reading, writing poetry, crocheting, sewing, and the many beloved dogs she took in over the years. She graduated from San Juan College in Farmington, NM. Juanita worked for 25 years at Walmart, first in Farmington and then Clovis, NM. She treasured the many friendships she developed with co-workers during her time there. More than anything she was a devoted mother to her children and a second mother to the many other "children" who drifted into her life. She loved them all unconditionally.
Juanita was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 59 years Charles Mathew Journey; sons, Wayne and Robert Journey; parents, John & Nola Culbertson; sister, Barbara Ann Culbertson and brother, John D. Culbertson.
Juanita is survived by children Charlie Lee Journey of Clovis, NM, Rita & Michael Larby of Bozeman, MT, Glenn & Renee Journey of Aztec, NM, Kathleen Herrera of Clovis, NM, Christopher and Alex Journey of Austin, TX. Daughter-in-law Peggy Campbell of Stamford, TX and Paul Herrera of Aztec, NM. Sisters Joann & Charles Ammons, Jeanette Adams, Jewell & Ben Palos, Betty Guevara, Jacquin & Fernando Jose', Flora Ella & Randy DeLaPaz, and brother James & Brenda Culbertson. Many special grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Mickey Harrington, Mike Padilla, Paul Herrera, Michael Larby, John Banks, and Thomas Hess.
Honorary Pallbearers are Brad Journey, Maurice Journey, Morgan Campbell, and Audie Bible.
The family of Juanita Journey wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of those who supported our mother with love, kindness, and understanding throughout her life and eased her journey into eternity. Please know that she valued your caring and support.
