Julia Jefferson

March 23, 1926 — February 16, 2011

Julia Louise Jefferson, age 84, of Clovis, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. She was born on March 23, 1926 to Simuel and Eva Williams in Ft. Worth, Texas, where she was raised and attended Catholic school. Upon graduation from high school, Julia GrannyMommie attended Prairieview AM College where she received a degree in business administration. She was united in holy matrimony to Welton Jefferson in 1951, and to this union was born three sons: Billy Frank, Nigel Lawrence and Victor Frederick.

Julias employers included Pinkston Funeral Homes of Ft. Worth as well as Clovis Municipal Schools. She later dedicated her full and undivided attention to the care of her mother until her passing. She was a member of Tan Terrific and the Clovis branch of the N.A.A.C.P.

Julia gave her heart to the Lord and was active in church, keeping God first in her life. Upon relocating to Clovis, NM, she became a member of St. Johns Baptist Church she was the last charter member, and later joined First Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop W.C. Green, Sr., where she attended faithfully until her health began to fail. Even when she was unable to attend services regularly, she still found ways to support the ministry. Every Easter and Christmas, Sis. Jefferson made sure that the altar was graced with beautiful floral arrangements. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 121.

Sis. Jefferson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, daughterinlaw, Charlotte K. Jefferson, and greatgranddaughter, AMayah Jones.

She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, Nigel L. Jefferson of Clovis five grandchildren: Eugene Jefferson of Shreveport, Louisiana, Tasheva Davis of Houston, Texas, Kendra Jefferson of Clovis, New Mexico, Danielle Jefferson of Grand Prairie, Texas and Era Greene of Wichita, Kansas seven greatgrandchildren: Najaye Jefferson, Kaziah Jefferson, Alanna Jefferson, Nadyia Jefferson, Kayden Hudson, Casetta Johnson and Anniya Jefferson one daughterinlaw, Janet Jefferson special lifelong friends, Florence Slaughter and Bishop W.C. Green, Sr., and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2011 at First Church of God in Christ, 3400 Vinton, in Clovis with Bishop W.C. Green officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis. Casket bearers will be Minister Marvin Cox, Bro. Daniel Rhoden, Deacon Ronald Reid, Bro. DeSean Rhoden, Bro. Diondre Hunter, and Bro. Homer Robertson. Honorary casket bearers will be Bro. Larry Beachum, Deacon Larry Jones, Sr., Bro. Robert Clark, Rev. Kenneth Loudermill, Deacon R.L.Grimes, Bro. Claude McPherson, Jr., Bro. James Jones, and Deacon Aaron Young.
