Kay Russell Harmon age 75 of Clovis, New Mexico was born October 16, 1936 in Muleshoe, Texas to Russell and Evelyn Wilterding Harmon. Kay was raised in House, New Mexico and graduated from House High School in 1955. He married LaQuita McCool June 19, 1959 in Muleshoe, Texas. Kay worked for Ford Motor Company as a Parts Manager where he was transferred all over Texas for startup and opening of parts departments for Ford Dealerships. After working for Ford he went to college at Eastern New Mexico University where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education and majoring in English. Kay worked as the Auto Mechanic Teacher at Clovis High School for 29 years. Kay dry land farmed on his familys farm near house and enjoyed Motorsports, Tractor pull racing, Race Cars, and was as huge NASCAR fan. He enjoyed coaching Boys and Girls basketball and was a member of the Eastern New Mexico Antique Car Association owning several of his own restored cars.
Kay is survived by his loving wife of 53 years LaQuita Harmon of Clovis daughter Twyla Rob Coleman of Clovis son Russell Harmon of Clovis mother Evelyn Harmon of Clovis mother and father in law Doug and Nora Ruby of Clovis brother Robert Sue Harmon of Clovis brother and sister in law James Sharon Truelock of Sherman, Texas nine grandchildren T.J. Crosswhite of Clovis, Chad Crosswhite of Clovis, Kyle Blakey of Clovis, Kayden Harmon of Clovis, Hailee Harmon of Sherman, Texas, Briana Harmon of Idaho, Dace Harmon of Clovis, Chelsea Richardson of Memphis, Tennesse, and Robbie Coleman of Clovis four great grand children Caleb Crosswhite, Alissa Crosswhite, Kannon Blakey, and Leland Richardson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and one great niece Rachel Harmon.
The family has requested his service to be a time of fellowship at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012 at SteedTodd Chapel with a slideshow of memories of Kay to end the service. The family will then like everyone to enjoy light refreshments and share this time with family and friends. Cremation has taken place.
