Ken Giz Vandiver, age 79, of Clovis, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on June 21, 1931 to Fred Audice and Trudy Walker Vandiver in Clovis.
Giz served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Sandra Bumgarner on July 24, 1973, and retired as a Conductor from the Santa Fe Railroad after 43 years of service. He enjoyed his friends, fellow railroaders, and fishing, and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Clovis, and the American Legion in Logan, NM.
Giz is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandra Vandiver a daughter, Katheryn Parker of San Jon, New Mexico a son, Michael Vandiver of Albuquerque, New Mexico a stepson, Gary Gillette of Clovis a sister, Mary Johnson of Wichita Falls, Texas three grandchildren, Alisa Sandoval of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jamie Kaye Parker of Tuttle, Oklahoma, and Kyle M. Parker of Clovis and three greatgrandchildren, Jadyn Sandoval and Alana Rosa Sandoval, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Teagen Jan Hames of Tuttle, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2011 at SteedTodd Funeral Home. Cremation will take place after viewing.
