Obituary - Kenneth Wayne Wade
Kenneth Wayne Wade, formerly of Melrose, died November 8, 2016 at his home in Safford, AZ at the age of 79.
He was born May 4, 1937 in Spur, TX to Sidney Wilkes and Lillian Jane (Faulkner) Wade. Kenneth was the youngest of seven children and moved to Melrose, NM with his family in 1938 as an infant.
He attended Melrose School and graduated in 1956. While in high school, he was active in FFA, band and sports. He joined the Baptist church as a teenager. After graduating high school, he farmed the family homestead and married Twyla Biggers on June 30, 1957. To the union was born three children. He patiently shared with his children his love of horses and with his son, his love of machinery. He was a "jack of all trades" kind of man. Kenneth owned and operated a welding and water well business in Melrose for many years, was head of maintenance of Melrose School in the late 1970's into the early 1980's. He moved to Las Cruces, NM in 1992, then to Safford, AZ a few years later. While living in Safford, he owned and operated a mobile home moving business until his retirement several years ago. Kenneth was known to be a kind and generous man. He enjoyed helping people.
Survivors include his companion Bertha Mae Shelton of Safford, AZ; daughters Valerie Wade of Nebraska; Michele Dansby (husband John) of Lubbock, TX; former wife Twyla Wade; seven grandchildren, Jaclyn Roberts (husband Brian) of Tucson, AZ, Tiffany Hankins of Albuquerque, NM, Leah Gary (husband Trent), Rachael Dansby all of Lubbock, TX, Jonathan Dansby (wife Haley) of Durham, NC, Joshua Dansby and Caleb Dansby, both of Lubbock; five great-grandchildren, Cael, Caedmon, and Cace Gary, Addison Roberts, and Jethro Dansby, as well as sisters, Doris Fomby of Abilene, TX and Leta Wyatt of Clyde, TX.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, Mark Wade, his parents, brothers Alton Wade, Audis Wade and Gerald Wade, and a sister, Wynona Glover.
Graveside services will be at the Melrose Cemetery on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.
