L. Huerta

Paul, age 94, from Clovis, NM, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Farwell Convalescent Center in Farwell, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was born in Jalostotilan, Jalisco, Mexico, and moved with his family to Clovis, New Mexico when he was 11 years old.

In his early years, he worked at the Harvey House and Hotel Clovis. He was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for 36 years, retiring in 1977. When World War 1I began, he chose to serve our country in the military although he was not a citizen of the United States at that time. He joined the Army and was stationed in Panama, Costa Rica and Ecuador.

Paul had many interests during his lifetime. He was an artist and loved to paint. He was an excellent bowler for many years, bowling competitively in local and national tournaments. His favorite pastime was having coffee and talking to his many friends. He never met a stranger and always had plenty of stories to share with anyone who would listen. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Dionicio and Maria Huerta and siblings, Petra, Santos, Gus, Mary, Joe, Chole, Jessie, and Lupe.

He is survived by his wife, Pat, of 59 years three sons, Rick Huerta of Port Neches, TX, Tony Kim Huerta of Boise, ID, and Shawn Huerta of Eagle River, AK two daughters, Pam Gary Ware of Clovis, NM, and Teena Jeff Volker of Clovis, NM 12 Grandchildren, Chris Huerta, Shanan Koschak, Dustin Huerta, Ryan Ware, Brandon Huerta, Rachelle Jaeger, Matt Ware, Taylor Huerta, Kelsey Huerta, Charissa Ware, Nicholas Volker and Mackenzie Volker nine greatgrandchildren one sister, Lola Loretto of San Jose, CA and many nieces and nephews. He was greatly loved by his family and will be dearly missed.

Visitation with the family will be today, Sunday, July 31, 2011 at SteedTodd Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August l, 2011, at SteedTodd Chapel with Deacon Daniel Chavez and Rob Hollis officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
