Lanora Covington

Lanora was born on June 4, 1928 in Clovis, NM, the only daughter of Grady and Deloyce Jernigan Pierce. Lanora received her Bachelors degree in Education from ENMU and her Masters degree in Psychology and Counseling from South Eastern University in Durant, OK. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and in high school she was a member of the Phidias.

She taught elementary school in Roswell, NM and in California. She moved back to her hometown of Clovis where she taught first grade and was a counselor for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe E. Covington and her parents, Grady and Deloyce Pierce. She is survived by her son, Michael McNeill, her brother, B.J. Pierce, one niece and two nephews. She will be laid to rest in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery beside her beloved husband, Joe E. Covington.

Graveside services are at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2015 at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, NM.
