alignjustify Laura Ruth Martin Gore, 90, died May 20, 2007. She was born of Edwin Martin and Melissa Viola Caulder Martin in Granite, OK, in 1916.
alignjustify When she was 11, her mother, Viola, died, and Ruth was raised thereafter by her uncle and aunt, Dr. Wallace P. Martin and Camille Tripp Martin of Burkburnett, TX, as a sister to their daughter Marcella. The Martin family moved to Clovis in 1931 where Ruth lived for the rest of her life. She married Harold O. Gore, a local attorney, in 1951. She was Executive Director of the Red Cross in Clovis in World War II. She also worked as a legal secretary and in retail sales. She studied art at ENMU and was a sculptor and painter. She was a long-time member of St. James Episcopal Church in Clovis.
alignjustify She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold O. Gore; a sister, Mae Martin Rohr; a half-sister, Ellen Martin Chapman.
alignjustify She is survived by a son, Halber Gore of Bastrop, TX; a daughter, Millie Gore Lancaster of Wichita Falls, TX; a sister, Marcella Martin Bruce of Hillsboro, KS; long time friend, Juanita Jacobs of Clovis; and several nieces and nephews.
alignjustify Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at St. James Episcopal Church in Clovis with Father Ben Wright, officiating. Entombment will follow at Plains Sanctuary Mausoleum in Clovis.
alignjustify In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, the Lighthouse Mission, or the Clovis-Carver Public Library.
