Laurence Choate

February 18, 1915 — June 22, 2010

Laurence M. Choate went to sleep in Christ at 95 years of age on June 22, 2010 at his home in Clovis, NM. He was born to Sammie and Birdie Looper Choate on February 18, 1915 in Petersburg, TX in Hale County. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1937. He served in the Army during WWII in Hawaii. After his release from the Army, he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a car man for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He married Della M. Howard on May 23, 1981 in Clovis.

He was preceded in death by his parents two sisters Walldeen Long and Jaunita Anderson and a brother Sam R. Choate and several nieces and nephews. Laurence is survived by his wife of the home a niece Walu McCurry and husband Michael of Houston Texas sisterinlaw Stella Hinds brothersinlaw William D. Howard and L. K. Howard, and many nieces and nephews some of whom he thought of as his own children.

The service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 at SteedTodd Chapel with Pastor Nehemias Basit officiating. The family will have a visitation at SteedTodd from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 24. Pallbearers will be his nephews Robert J. Hinds, Michael J. Hinds, Carsten Douglas, Mike Morrow, Bill Morrow, and Samuel Morrow. Honorary pallbearers will be his remaining nephews and nieces.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Childrens Home of your choice or the 7th Day Adventist Church.
