Lavena Bocock

August 14, 1932 — September 7, 2012

Lavena M. Bocock went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 7, 2012, at her home at the age of 80. She was born on August 14, 1932 to W.R. and Velma Langston Carlisle in Plainview, Texas. She moved to Clovis in the sixth grade. She attended Clovis School and graduated from Clovis High School in 1949.

She married Barney J. Bocock on September 11, 1949, at First Baptist Church in Clovis, New Mexico. They were married 60 years.

In 1956, they started State Electric, an electrical contracting business which later became State Electric and Mechanical which they owned and operated until their retirement from contracting in 1980. She was the secretary and bookkeeper for their business.

She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Clovis. She was a charter member of Parkland Baptist Church and member of the Ruths Sunday School Class. She formerly served as Church Treasurer for 43 years. She also kept up the Church scrapbooks for many years. She loved her church. She was a dedicated servant and she loved her Lord.

She was a charter member of the Clovis Chapter of Pilot Club. She attended several Pilot Club conventions.

She enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed her friendships with her Sunday School Class and Pilot Club Friends. She enjoyed shopping and decorating. She loved to take pictures of her family. She enjoyed listening to piano music.

She was a very loving and caring generous person. She was a wonderful and beautiful daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her family.

She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her loving sweet spirit.

She is survived by one son, John Loyce Bocock of Edgewood, New Mexico one daughter, Linda Bocock of Clovis, New Mexico one sister, Raylene Lloyd Jeffries of Georgetown, Texas four grandchildren, Jeremy Kristi Bocock of Edgewood, New Mexico David Julie Bocock of Glendora, California James Walker of Ft. Worth, Texas Laura Walker of Dallas, Texas three great grandchildren, Hayden and Tesslynn Bocock, and Hudson Bocock one aunt, Edna Bill Grace of Willow Park, Texas one cousin, Zaida Babb of Logan, New Mexico one sisterinlaw, Betty Trzcinski of Sedona, Arizona nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Barney her mother, Velma Davis her father, W.R. Carlisle and her sister, Jean Obenhaus.

A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis with Pastor Wayne Boydstun and Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Jeremy Bocock, David Bocock, Hayden Bocock, Hudson Bocock, James Walker, and Dick Gressett. Honorary pallbearers will be her Ruths Sunday School Class.

A special thank you to Dr. Timothy Hillis and Joan Martin and the nurses of and staff of Vista Care Hospice for all the love, care and support.
