Lawanna Bernice Crawley, age 95, formerly of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 16, 2017, at Crown Point Health Suites in Lubbock, Texas. She was born to Bill and Sallie Helm on November 21, 1921, in Clovis, New Mexico. She married her beloved husband, Cecil William Crawley, on September 4, 1937, in Clovis. She moved to Lubbock, Texas in 2010, to be near her daughter, Lynda, and her family.
Lawanna was a member of Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis. She retired from Southwestern Public Service Company after several years of service as a cashier. She focused her life on her family and she was an avid reader. She loved to crochet and enjoyed giving an afghan to all of her treasured family members and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynda McGee of Lubbock; daughter-in-law, Joy Crawley of Lubbock; grandson, Curtis Crawley of Las Cruces, NM; granddaughter, Susan McGee of Naperville, IL; granddaughter, Sharon (Mark) Ann McGee Latsha of Paragould, AR; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Treva Chambless of Buchanan Dam, TX; sister-in-law, Essie Helm of Lincoln, AR; and many friends, nieces and nephews.
Lawanna was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Cecil; son, Richard Crawley; son-in-law, John McGee; and siblings Jesse Lee Helm, Bill Helm, Jr., Hazel Montague, and Dorothy Upshaw.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Steed Todd Chapel, 800 E. Manana Blvd., Clovis, NM. The service will be led by Wayne Boydstun, lead pastor of Parkland Baptist Church. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Cemetery immediately following the service.
