Lawrence Stutts

Lawrence Larry Ray Stutts, 79, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born September 7, 1927 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Gilbert and Faye Bone Stutts. Larry was raised in San Jon, New Mexico and Satanta, Kansas.

Larry received his B. S. in Biological Science from OPSU in Goodwell, Oklahoma and his masters degree in Ecology from Pittsburg State College in Pittsburg, Kansas. He was a science educator for 29 years. He taught in Colorado, Texas and New Mexico.

He was a member of 16th Pile Church of Christ, the National Education Assoc., the local Education Assoc., the National Academy of Science and the New Mexico Academy of Science. Larry was a veteran of World War II.

He married Shirley McKelvy on September 6, 1952 in Leoti, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by a son, Wade in 1990; his parents and a sister Nona Zimmerman.

Mr. Stutts is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley; 2 sons, Thane Stutts Cindy of Spring, Texas and Kyle Stutts of Hudson Oaks, Texas; 3 sisters, Leora Goodwin of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Glenda Richardson Don of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee and Sherry Van Campen Gene of Vici, Oklahoma; his aunt, Ruby Green of Farwell, Texas and numerous cousins and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Key to the Kingdom, co 16th Pile, P. O. Box 1237, Clovis, New Mexico 88101 or your favorite charity.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2006 at 16th Pile Church of Christ with Jim Gammon officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at the San Jon Cemetery in San Jon, New Mexico.
