Graveside services for Lee Roy Coffey, 88, of Melrose, New Mexico will be held Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Melrose Cemetery with Chaplain Valentine Martinez officiating and Steve Boyd and L. C. Gonser assisting. Masonic graveside rites will be held my Melrose Masonic Lodge 39 A. F. A. M.

Mr. Coffey died Sunday, November 5, 2006 at his home. He was born December 29, 1917 to J. L. and Clare Griffin Coffey in Crosby County, Texas. He moved to Curry County, New Mexico in 1938. He married Lola Mae Carter December 17, 1940. He was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Melrose Masonic Lodge. He was a Square Dance Caller from 1960 1980.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Beth Coffey Austin in 2001; four brothers, Verlin Coffey, Robert Coffey, Leonard Coffey and O. B. Coffey and one sister, Ruby Terrill.

He is survived by his wife, Lola Mae of the home; one son, Bill Coffey and wife Joyce of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one son-in-law, Dorman Austin of Logan, New Mexico; two brothers, Herman Coffey of Belen, New Mexico and Leon Coffey of Logan, New Mexico; three sisters, Ollie Mae Henry of Big Spring, Texas, Louise Heddins of Gruver, Texas and Wanda Richmond of Logan, New Mexico; 4 grandchildren, Cody Coffey Bristi of Melrose, New Mexico, Jodi Guerin John of Laramie, Wyoming and Teri Coffey of Las Vegas, Nevada and Brian Coffey Ann of Seattle, Washington and several great grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice Foundation, 2708 N. Prince Street, Clovis, New Mexico 88101, the Melrose Volunteer Fire Department or the House Volunteer Fire Department.

Pallbearers will be members of the Melrose Masonic Lodge, Jim Payne, Wendell Belcher, Tyler Belcher, Ryan Belcher, Hank Jordan and Frank Glover.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends and neighbors.
