Lee Gonser, 86 of Melrose, died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Retirement Ranch in Clovis. She was born February 26, 1925, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Clem Dudley and Sarah Blalock.
During the 1953 wheat harvest while driving a grain truck, Lee met the love of her life, Glen Gonser. After dating through wheat and maize harvest, they married on December 9, 1953 in Clayton, NM. They made their home and raised their family in Melrose.
Her greatest joy was being a farmers wife and working alongside her husband. In her free time, she loved to sew, do crafts, and can along with attending her daughters activities. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Melrose and Eastern Star Order. In her later years, she spent a lot of time reading, one of her passions, and doing word puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Dudley Blalock, along with six Gonser brotherinlaws and four sisterinlaws, two nephews and one niece.
She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Wendell Belcher of Melrose, and Janet Gonser of Tulsa, Oklahoma three grandsons, Tyler Sally Belcher of Oklahoma Lane, Texas, Ryan Belcher of Portales, and Aaron Belcher of Portales three greatgrandchildren one sister, Noni Jim Van Sickle of Clovis and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Melrose with Chaplain Vaughn Gossman officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Wendell Belcher, Tyler Belcher, Ryan Belcher, Aaron Belcher, L.C. Gonser, and Cody Cochran.
