Lee Hutchins, age 68, of Farwell, Texas passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the Muleshoe Area Medical Center in Muleshoe, Texas. He was born November 4, 1941, in Clovis, New Mexico to Artie Lee and Helen Van Vacter Hutchins. He married Gloria Hillock on January 3, 1960, in Oklahoma Lane, Texas. Lee served the U.S. Navy from 1959 1963. Lee was an electrical contractor, owning Lees Electric in Farwell, Texas, since January 1966. He served as the Fire Chief and Fire Marshall for Farwell, Texas, and was currently serving the city as code enforcement officer. He was a major driving force in acquiring ambulance service and 911 service in Farwell, and served on the Hospital Board. Lee was a member of Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Farwell, serving as a Trustee and member of the SPRC board. He was a past Community Lay Director for the New Horizons Walk to Emmaus Community. He and his wife, Gloria, went on three consecutive Cleopas walks in Sweden as well. Lee went on different missions trips helping with varied construction and electrical projects.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gloria Hutchins of Farwell, Texas one daughter, Geretta Richards, of Littlefield, Texas two sons: Carl Hutchins of San Antonio, Texas and Daniel Hutchins and his wife Darla of Tucumcari, New Mexico two brothers: Van Hutchins of Denver, Colorado, and Jerry Hutchins and his wife Mary of Vancouver, Washington and six grandchildren: Joshua Richards, Alex Hutchins, Abigail Hutchins, Joseph Richards, Thomas Hutchins, and Noah Richards. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Farwell, Texas, at 2:00 PM, CST with Randal Partin, Ron Caldwell and James Daniel Hutchins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Terrace Cemetery in Farwell, Texas. Pallbearers will be Mike Camp, Lewis Cooper, Henry Garcia, David George, Greg Howard, Feller Hughes, Steve Meeks Todd Northcutt. Honorary pallbearers will be the Farwell Fire Department, Vane Dosher and James Craig.
