Lela Vaughn Stockton, 92, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Retirement Ranch. She was born February 11, 1918, in Hollene, New Mexico to Tom and Cora Turner Vaughn.
She graduated from high school in Hollene. She married Charles Stockton in 1940. She attended ENMU and was awarded a Bachelors Degree in 1954. She taught school for 35 years. She taught at Hollene, Rosedale and Grady. She taught second grade at Texico and retired after 25 years there. She loved her family, loved to travel in their trailer and loved to read and play 42. She had lived at the Senior Citizen Resident Center for the last five years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Charles Stockton Lola grandson, Rodney Stockton granddaughter Stacy Brooks Jeff 3 great grandchildren, Kylee, Kabel Kannon and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Alan McAlister officiating.
