Leonora Victoria Huerta, 86, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. She was born April 19, 1921 in Roswell, New Mexico to Francisco Petra Hernandez Rios.
She lived in Clovis all her life. She graduated from Clovis High School and Eastern New Mexico University where she received a bachelors degree in accounting. She worked for Civil Service as an accountant at Cannon Air Force Base then worked in Clovis as a public accountant. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she was an ucaristic minister and a lector. She was a foster parent at La Casita and also worked the elections as a poll worker. She was a past member of the Clovis Community Development Board and the Urban Development Board, Meals on Wheels and the Senior Citizen Center. In April 2002 she received from Clovis Pride, the Residential Pride of the Month Award.
She is survived by her husband, Gregorio Huerta of the home in Clovis; 5 stepsons, Gregorio Huerta Jr. of Kingsville, Texas, Adam Huerta of Lubbock, Texas, Noe Huerta of Washington, D. C., Joel Huerta of Midland, Texas and Marty Huerta of Denver, Colorado; 2 step daughters, Diana Dowd of Auburn, New York and Noemi Grimes of Brady, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008 with Mass of Christian Burial following at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Carlos Chavez officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Casket bearers will be Adam Huerta, Martin Huerta, Joel Huerta and grandsons, Jason Huerta, Ruben Huerta David Huerta.
