Lester E. Cleghorn, age 78, passed away October 27, 2014, in Lubbock Texas.

He was born April 30, 1936 to Lawrence and Josie Cleghorn in Hettinger, ND. Lester was raised in Lemon, SD. Upon graduating high school he joined the U.S. Air Force where he met and married Velma Johnson in Riverside, CA. He and Velma had 3 children Russell Cleghorn Gina of Platteville, CO, Debbie Ward Ron of Farwell, TX, and Denise Pierce Rickey of Texico, NM. Lester retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1973 and moved to Clovis, NM. He married Carolyn Marshall in November 1983. Lester was the proud owner of L and C Lawn Care and ran it until retiring in 1999.

He was loved by many. He adored his grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and his puppies. He loved sports, enjoyed going fishing, and loved his church family. Lester was a Deacon of Sandia Baptist Church for over 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cleghorn of Clovis, NM, his 3 children Russell Cleghorn Gina of Platteville, CO, Debbie Ward Ron of Farwell, TX, and Denise Pierce Rickey of Texico, NM, 14 grandchildren, and 28 greatgrandchildren.

He is preceded in death by wife, Velma Cleghorn his father and mother sisters Joanne and Margaret.

Visitation will be 8:00 am 8:00 pm, Thursday October 30, 2014 at SteedTodd Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday October 31, 2014, at Sandia Baptist Church in Clovis, NM.

Memorial Contributions may be made in his honor to American Cancer Society and to UMC Burn Center.
